Three eventful years...

WARNING: this is a really long post-

So with it being our anniversary I started to reminisce. I wanted to share my thoughts with you on all of the things we have accomplished in three great years-

  • When we got married we were already living together in Phoenix. Davis' brother Casey also lived there, renting out our extra bedroom.

Overland Park, Kansas is where we planned on moving because that is where Davis' parents live, and where Davis was raised. When we were trying to decide about moving I found this article in a magazine at work. I remember it saying "where kids rule the streets". Our fate was sealed, I was certain this was to be our next home.

  • We had to let go of our first family pet "Felony", a beautiful Pitt Bull. Though we know that was only at our heartbreak and our families were thrilled.

  • In July 2006- We moved to Overland Park, Ks. starting out as renters, in a duplex that was picked out by my new in-laws. We had a great little place in a great neighborhood.

  • By December 2006- We were expecting our newest addition -We were all so excited.

  • We spent a few weeks in January visiting our loved ones in Phx.

  • In the spring we found out that Faith would get a brother, Due August 19, 2007.

  • We spent a few weeks of July in North Dakota and I was REALLY pregnant. On our return trip we spent some extra time coming back through the Black Hills, stopping to see Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore.

  • In August both of my parents came to visit and stayed with us waiting for our new arrival.

  • Justice Holden McAdoo was born On August 23, 2007.

  • We spent our Christmas in Phx for the first time since we began dating, Davis got to see the crazy Perkins family holiday (though I have to admit they didn't seem nearly as crazy as I remember them).

  • In January Davis officially adopted Faith, making her legally a McAdoo!

  • In March we bought our first home. It was a foreclosure that we got at a great price but, it needed a ton of work.We spent the next several months working on the house we had bought while living in the duplex. Ron and Carol where our heroes during all of this. Ron spent every chance he got working at our house, often even when we couldn't be there. Carol spent her time babysitting so that we could work on the house. They offered to help us when we were looking at the house for a month or so. Five months later we were still renting the duplex, working every free moment at the house. The number of decisions to make could have been a job all in it's self.

  • On August 18, 2008 Faith had her first day of kindergarten!

  • On August 23 this little McAdoo clan had a big day! We spent the day moving into the almost finished part of the house and our evening celebrating Justice's first birthday at our favorite little Chinese buffet .

  • We spent the next couple of months putting the finishing touches on the house and making it a home. Hanging art, putting up curtains, arranging the furniture (at Davis' disapproval, I could rearrange the house weekly and be happy, Davis is usually just getting used to the arrangement when I decided to change it).

  • This Christmas was spent in North Dakota visiting with Davis' Family. It was a cold (-70 degree wind chills) and emotional trip. Davis' Grandpa Bob passed suddenly from a head injury after falling on the ice.

  • In February we got two kittens, they are awsome and it is really nice for them to have each other to play with. ( New Total: 2 parents + 2 kids + 2 cats = alot of stuff going on in our house)

  • Last week we had our first party at our new house, a successful game night.

We spent our actual anniversary apart (I was working). We were able to spend Friday the 20 th at a friends wedding which was really romantic. The kids had a overnight at the grandparents so we spent Saturday having a very lazy day date. We did some research for our next house project then drove about an hour to Atchison, Kansas and spent some time in the Nell Hills shopping district. We drove back to Overland Park, enjoyed a nice nap and then went out to celebrate with Davis' parents, Carol and Ron and our kids at Kona Grill enjoying some great sushi rolls.

All in all I would say we have had a very eventful 3 years and have grow as a couple, as a family and as individuals. I don't think that there is much more I could ask for. Life is amazing and I couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone other than my best friend.
