this is a long post because i want to talk about all of our recent activity so i will break it up by days.
the 4th- we spent much of the day hanging out at Carol & Ron's, just having some family time. we had started the morning working at our house, then had a fabulous grilled lunch out on the deck (i love the summers here). we spent the rest of the day doing the little fire works, sparklers and such. i went to work for about an hour then went out and took the kids to see the big city fireworks display. i was beautiful and faith had never seen a big show before, she was impressed.
the 5th- davis and i dropped the kids off at the grandparents and headed to hillsdale lake. it's the first time since we bought the house that we've had a sitter and done something other than work on the house. Mark (davis' longtime friend) had a birthday party at the lake, it was a ton of fun to spend the day with other adults just lounging. there was a house boat where we spent time just talking, then a wake board boat for playing.it was great! thanks for inviting us and Happy birthday Mark!
the 9th- the cabinets were installed in the new kitchen...they are amazing. it is nice to see the design choices coming together in real life and exiting my brain.
other things this week- we made some final decisions on things like cabinet hardware, we special ordered our front door lock, oh and the brown paint went up! this is an exciting moment in the house because it is such a dark choice and might i say a brave choice. i don't know anyone who would do this but i think it's going to be amazing. i think good design comes from not striving to be different but not being afraid to be unique. we will soon see whether I'm crazy or not.
